Snowflake Obsidian, Small Flake, Rough Rock, per lb

Rough Snowflake Obsidian from Utah. This Obsidian is black with natural "snowflakes" of little light gray spherulites. The spots are formed through devitrification when molecules within glass (which has no crystal structure) change their structure and crystallize.

Size ranges between 3 - 15lb pieces. Typical pieces are approximately 5lbs and 3"-7" long.

Primary image features the rock wet.

If you have a preference on the size or number of rocks you will receive, please describe this in your order notes at checkout.

Obsidian is an organically created glass, formed through felsic lava that rapidly cools after exploding past the earth’s crust. It exhibits conchoidal fracturing and is a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale. Typical Obsidian is a semi-translucent black that can have slight tints of green or brown.
